Glenn Erick Braggs (born October 17, 1962 in San Bernardino, California) is a former Major League Baseball outfielder and designated hitter who played in both the outfield and the designated hitter positions. Braggs was a part of the Cincinnati Reds squad that won the World Series in 1990 by defeating the Oakland Athletics in five games. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he studied political science. Braggs was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the second round of the 1983 Big League Baseball Draft. He made his major league debut with the Brewers on July 18, 1986, and went on to win a World Series with the team. Braggs went 1-4 with an RBI in a 6-1 defeat to the Oakland Athletics on the road. He started in left field and batted sixth. His first career hit came in the sixth inning against Joaquin Andujar, who struck out. On August 2, 1986, he blasted the first of his 70 career home runs, a two-run blast off Charlie Hough that put him on the map. In 1989, he had his finest season, hitting 15 home runs and driving in 66 runs (RBI) while also stealing 17 bases while batting.247 with a.247 batting average. When he came to a complete halt with his swing, he applied so tremendous power to the bat that it snapped off right above the grip, without ever hitting the ball.  A fastball from the Oakland Athletics’ Dave Stewart was hit so hard by him that the bat shattered on his back on his follow-through in the second inning of Game 4 of the 1990 World Series. On September 10, 1992, he made his last appearance in a game. Glenn Braggs is married to Cindy Herron, also known as Cindy Herron-Braggs, who was a founding member of the female R&B group En Vogue and is the mother of their two children.
